Perfect World Inspiration
Pregnant of new beginnings January 7, 2013
During the last few weeks I was unable to unwind from a very busy and exiting year. Normally Xmas is a time for nothing much. Reading books I still want to read, going to the movies, spending time with friends. All that was here this year and still I was feeling restless.
Last Saturday I spent time at the Anish Kapoor exhibition at the museum de Pont in Tilburg and I experienced a true ephiphany. I was approaching a wall and something seemed different with this wall. White on white, it looked as if the colour was moving and wanted to show me something. When I approached it became evident. This wall is pregnant. A wonderful work of art from Mr. Kapoor who never stops to surprise.
Beautiful quiet expectation by Anish Kapoor.
It reminded me of a much more loud piece of work of the New York artist Marni Kotak that last year made a perfomance out of “The Birth of Baby X”, a durational performance that was conducted from October 8 through November 7 at Microscope Gallery in Brooklyn New York, culminating in the live birth of her baby boy Ajax, on October 25, 2011. In the exhibition two ten foot trophy’s were waiting for the babyshower to happen. One for the mother, one for the baby. Everything happening was made into multimedia artwork. Kotak believes that our most intriguing performances occur when we are not aware that we are performing.
Beautiful loud expectation by Marni Kotak.
Standing before the pregnant wall these two artist made me realize that I am pregnant too. And that this is what explains my restlessness. We started the holiday season with a “good vibrations” party asking a very diverse group of people to show how they are creating and preparing positve design for the new time (after 21-12-12) to come. It was a vibrant get together with 75 wonderful, touching and brilliant ideas and ideals for a better world. All present were convinced on doomsday night, the night of the party, that this night was not the last day but that tomorrow was the first day of a new promising time to start. That perfect energy was exactly what we wanted to share and multiply in giving the party.
But what happened is that instead of releashing that energy, it was the night I really got pregnant from these new ideas and ideals and now I cannot wait for it to happen and want to make sure that these new beginnings are born into healthy beautiful babies. So know ☺ that I am “expecting” great things to happen this year!
When all goes well we will have baby showers within 9 months time. Happy New Year!
